Daniel Mansson is an award-winning photographer whose indelible work has graced the pages of Vanity Fair, The New York Times and The Economist Magazine. His images are poetic and full of meaning, languid yet bursting with life. Born and raised in Sweden, Daniel is a charismatic listener with a cinematic eye. His body of work traces a barely perceptible thread between high and low culture, the commercial and the everyday.

His first book, Faces of Skateboarding (2005), established him as a storyteller and anthropologist within the convergent worlds of skate and surf. The book led to a grant from the Swedish Author’s Association and was distributed by Blitz.

In 2010, Daniel was awarded a scholarship in nature photography from the Hasselblad Foundation. Daniel’s other books, Super and The Cats Meow, have also been awarded governmental grants. His work has been featured in some of the world’s biggest action sport publications such as SLAP, Skateboarder’s Journal and Concrete Wave.

'“Few people ever actually follow their dreams and it takes a brave man to try. Originally from Sweden this talented photographer relocated to Southern California with the intention of photographing the world’s greatest skateboarders. In the process he has published several books and continued on to document the surf, bike and hot rod scenes in that waterless but so, so fertile region in which talent blossoms year round”

-Nick Clements, Men’s file magazine

“Daniel has a rare talent for capturing a moment in time that is both poetic and full of meaning, languid yet bursting with life. He’s an award winning photo-journalist I’ve long admired and over our 15 years of working together he has given me art in the most mundane of situations. That’s his gift to be honest and he’s a master at it”

-Melanie Grant, Picture editor The Economist

“I have been working in the creative industry for over 20 years and I have met many different creatives: mutts and misfits and a few real geniuses. It's fair to say that Daniel is all of the above. A true savant. His brain is soldered in messy unexpected ways, wires crossing that normally never should cross, making him one of the most unique and interesting brains in the industry. Daniel is always looking to go deeper and further, he is often my hardest critic and that is something I value a lot, he has a schaman like gift, some might call him a prophet. He is not only a great listener, but actually knows what he is looking for constantly challenging me to think bigger.”
